Concerned Stakeholders in Labour Party Launch Reconciliation Efforts

In a move to restore peace and foster unity within its ranks, concerned stakeholders of the Labour Party have set up a reconciliation committee tasked with uniting the party’s leadership.
Chairman of the committee, Dr. Gometi O. Crested, called on all Nigerians yearning for a new and better nation by 2027, especially Labour Party members and supporters, to support the committee’s efforts by providing an enabling environment to resolve the ongoing crisis.
Dr. Crested assured that the committee is committed to restoring peace to the party without bias or sentiment. “We are not here to cast blame. Our mission is reconciliation, which is the only path out of this impasse,” he said.
He urged supporters of various party leaders to consistently promote peace, regardless of personal affiliations, and appealed to all stakeholders to embrace reconciliation, setting aside external and internal pressures.
“All we ask is for a bit of compromise from stakeholders. Two people cannot walk together unless they agree, and agreement requires sincere adjustment,” he stated.
Highlighting the impact of the crisis, Dr. Crested noted that it has significantly hindered the party’s progress and deepened internal divisions, even after the Supreme Court ruling. He emphasized that many Nigerians, especially the “Obidients” and other party loyalists, are deeply troubled by the leadership conflict, which threatens the unity needed to effectively prepare for the 2027 elections.
The committee, he said, will continue to consult widely and remain steadfast in its mandate. “With the cooperation of our leaders, we are optimistic that we can build a functional, united Labour Party capable of leading Nigerians who are eager for positive change in 2027.”
