A renowned Gospel Minister and Pastor in charge of Shalom of Shalom Baptist Church off Pipeline Road, Ekpan of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, PST. Dr. Opate Bright has revealed that falling in love is Satanic and that it’s unscriptural.
Dr. Bright gave the revelation on Sunday, August 3, 2025, during Sunday’s service held at the Church. He disclosed that the Holy Bible encourages walking in love, as stated in Ephesians 5:2, which promotes mutual support. Unlike falling in love, which can lead to harm and neglect.
According to the Man of God, walking in love aligns with God’s principles in marriage—husbands loving their wives and wives submitting to their husbands—noting that falling in love can result in detrimental situations, as evidenced by Osinachi’s tragic fate, while walking in love allows for healthier dynamics and resolution.
Dr. Bright added that many young people misunderstand relationships due to borrowed phrases, and the emphasis should be on walking in love rather than falling in love, stressing that falling in love is a concept from Nollywood.
The Shalom Baptist Church Pastor, Opate Bright, who is also a PhD holder in Ministry, further explained, thus: “Walking in love creates a foundation based on intentionality, commitment, and shared values, rather than the chaotic emotions often associated with falling in love.
“When we walk in love, we actively choose to prioritize our partner’s well-being, communicate openly, and resolve conflicts with grace. This approach fosters a deeper connection, rooted in respect and understanding, aligning with the Biblical view of love as an action rather than merely a feeling.
“Moreover, the concept of falling in love can promote unrealistic expectations, leading individuals to believe that they must always feel euphoric and enchanted to be in a fulfilling relationship. This can result in disappointment when reality sets in and the initial sparks fade. In contrast, walking in love reminds us that relationships take effort and perseverance, and that true love often involves navigating challenges together.
“In a world heavily influenced by media portrayals of love—where passion often overshadows commitment—it’s vital to recognize the distinction between fleeting emotions and lasting devotion. Young people, in particular, might find themselves caught up in the thrill of romantic infatuation, mistaking it for true love. By emphasizing the importance of walking in love, we can help cultivate healthier relationships that are able to withstand trials and tribulations.
“Additionally, walking in love encourages a sense of community and accountability within relationships. It invites others into our journey, allowing friends, family, and faith communities to provide support and guidance. This network can help couples focus on mutual growth and understanding, reinforcing the idea that love is not just about two individuals but a commitment to foster a loving and supportive environment.
“Ultimately, moving away from the notion of falling in love towards a mindset of walking in love empowers individuals to take control of their relational choices. It encourages them to view relationships as a journey filled with learning and development, rather than a destination defined by butterflies and moments of passion. Let’s strive to redefine our understanding of love to align more closely with biblical wisdom, ensuring that our relationships reflect a commitment to love, respect, and mutual support,” Dr. Bright stressed.”
