My Administration Will Leave Behind Good Legacies, BIA MD- Air Vice Marshal Calmday assuresĀ
**Congratulates Bayelsa NUATE Members
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bayelsa State International Airport, Air Vice Marshal Nelson Calmday (rtd), has assured Bayelsa International Airport workers that his administration will leave behind a lasting good legacies when he leaves as BIA Boss.
He congratulated the newly inaugurated State and Branch executive members of NUATE.
The MD, represented by the BIA Manager, Mr. Akpos Ejeta, stated that his approval for Unionization of Staff on September 10th, 2025, was informed by his administration’s policy to prioritize the welfare needs of staff members. He further emphasized that the procurement of two aircraft by the State government under his administration demonstrates his commitment to leaving good legacies when he leaves office.
He thanked the National President of NUATE and the Bayelsa State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for coming to inaugurate NUATE at Bayelsa International Airport..
In a keynote address, the National President of NUATE, Comrade Enebue Ben K., represented by Comrade Ettah Charles, urged the newly inaugurated members to work in unity for the progress of the Union. He stressed that leadership involves protecting and defending members’ welfare and interests without compromise.
Comrade Ben added that Union executive members should not betray the trust placed in them and thanked the BIA Managing Director for approving the union, describing it as a signal for better things to come for both management and workers.
On. his part, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Barnabas, represented by Comrade Henry Olukpo, emphasized the need for workers to be law-abiding and follow laid-down labour rules and laws while operating as union. He advised members to be serious about their jobs and assured that the NLC would support the Union in achieving its objectives. He also administered the oath of office to the inaugurated executive members.
Earlier, the State NUATE Chairman, Comrade Nyor Leo, chronicled the journey of NUATE in Bayelsa, describing the formation of NUATE at BIA as a significant victory for workers, providing a united body to advocate for their interests.
Dignitaries at the inauguration include, Comrade Okene Utuk, Akwa Ibom State Council Chairman, BIA Hr, Moreen Idumu and BIA Deputy Airport Manager. Others were heads of departments including Obiyor Chukwuemeka ARFF FAAN and some members of staff.
