CONGRATULATIONS TO CAPE VERDE FOR THEIR HISTORIC WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION.
By: Emeka Anyadike
CABO VERDE better known as Cape Verde have qualified for the World Cup, a group of tiny Islands smaller than my State, Rivers or neighbours, Bayelsa State or Lagos, and the archipelagic state of West Africa in the central Atlantic Ocean, consisting of ten volcanic islands with a combined land area of about 4,033 square kilometres (1,557 sq mi)
The success is particularly notable given the archipelago’s small population of just over 525,000, making it the second least populated country ever to qualify for the World Cup, following Iceland’s debut in 2018
This is not a surprise for me given my numerous trips around the Islands, where I saw first-hand, the quality of their organization and the progress they have been making in the last few years. Great leadership, really corporate offices, technical centres and most of all, a massive diaspora community of 700, 000+ Cape veridians leaving overseas.
The diaspora Kids have come to the party and that is a sure blessing for them and come to think of it, what can we learn from them?
