Sokoto United FC Sets Sight on a Strong Start as the 2025/2026 NNL Season Kicks Off in Ilorin
Sokoto United Football Club is set to begin its 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign with an exciting away fixture against their hosts at the Ilorin Township Stadium in Kwara State on Saturday, 15th November 2025.
After finishing 4th in the previous NNL season, the Caliphate Boys enter the new campaign with renewed energy, improved squad depth, and stronger ambition. The club has undergone significant restructuring during the off-season, including key player recruitments, tactical adjustments, and a series of rigorous preseason tests aimed at ensuring maximum preparation and competitiveness ahead of the new season.
Throughout the preseason, Sokoto United featured in multiple friendly matches against top teams within and outside the region an exercise that allowed the technical crew to assess player performance, experiment with fresh combinations, and enhance team chemistry. The results have been encouraging, with improved coordination, sharper attacking transitions, and a more solid defensive setup.
Speaking to the club’s media team, the captain, Yusha’u Garba Achida, expressed optimism about the journey ahead. He highlighted the improvements made across all departments of the team and assured fans that Sokoto United is ready to compete at the highest level this season.

“This is one of the strongest squads Sokoto United has assembled in recent years. The new players have blended well with the existing team, and the technical crew has worked tirelessly to sharpen our strategies.
