Ogbetuo Reaffirms Commitment to Promotion of Peace, Unity in Samagidi-Kokori

The ‘Okpakororho’ (Oldest man) of Samagidi- Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo JP has promised to promote peace and unity in Samagidi–Kokori Community.

Chief Ogbetuo, who stated this during his installation ceremony as Okpakororho of Samagidi-Kokori, assured the people that during his reign he would promote peace, unity and reconcile all aggrieved members of the community to move Samagidi forward.

He also promised to liaise with the Delta State government and all relevant agencies to attract development to Samagidi-Kokori.

Pa Ogbetuo advised the people of Samagidi Community to be united and maintain peace always and participate in the on-going INEC voter’s card registration and vote for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, who is the Chairman of the oil-rich Ibruvwe Community Elder Council Kokori called on all sons and daughters of Samagidi and the entire Ibruvwe community for support, cooperation and unity for the development of the area.

He urged the people to cooperate with him so that his reign will be peaceful and bring more development to Samagidi-Kokori.

“I urge you all to love one another and continue to work together as one family; as unity is strength. Collectively we shall make progress in our Community.”

By the installation as the most elderly man he has been given the authority to preside as the head and leader of the Community supported by the council of elders and Samagidi Progress Union.

Chief Godwin Ogbetuo JP, the “Afure” of Agbon Kingdom, is an educationist, a seasoned administrator and astute politician who has brought development to the Samagidi-Kokori community. He is a consummate community leader who embraces everybody and offers good advice.

He is a promoter of peace, unity, equality and justice for all. He has contributed positively to the development of Samagidi and Kokori community.

He pioneered development strategies for Samagidi that are visible today.

Chief Godwin Ogbetuo was a former President General of Samaidi-Kokori and during his tenure he worked tirelessly to bring development to Samagidi.

He brought electricity to Samagidi-Kokori by laying electricity poles from Eku to Samagidi. He also brought pipe- borne water (reservoir) to the community and was also instrumental to the building of modern town hall by influencing Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) to locate town hall in Samagidi and also brought other developments to the community.

His father, Deacon R. D. Ogbetuo brought primary school and Baptist Church to Samagidi through the assistance of Rev. Aganbi of Eku.

Chief Godwin Ogbetuo is a visionary leader whose vision, foresight and courage gave birth to the administrative structure which the Samagidi-Kokori community proudly uphold today.

As a grassroots politician and community leader, he has exhibited patriotism and positively contributed to the struggle for a better society. He is a quintessential figure with impeccable character.

is a vibrant community leader and a politician of high repute who has laboured not for personal glory and benefit, but for the establishment of a viable community and a country anchored on fairness, truth, justice and peace.

In a goodwill message to Chief Ogbetuo by the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Ogurimerime Ukori I, Mike Omeru (JP), represented by Hon. (Chief) Ejuvwekpokpo Oghorodi, the monarch called on him to ensure unity in the community and prayed for success during his reign.

In his address during the installation of Okakuro Pa Godwin Ogbetuo JP as Okpakororho of Samagidi-Ibruvwe community, the President General of Samagidi Community, Mr. Emmanuel Urhuarhovie said that Pa Ogbetuo is a man of integrity and a distinguished bridge-builder, adding that he is a political leader of a class.

Urhuarhovie further said that Pa Ogbetuo came to correct the wrongs and advocated for love and peace, who has proceeded to set up a reconciliation committee between the Samagidi-Ibruvwe community and the aggrieved Otenu famly.

According to him “As he takes over the leadership of the Samagidi-Ibruvwe community, let love and peace fully return to our community.

He has asked both parties to sheath their swords and withdraw all cases from court. He is determined to put Samagidi-Ibruvwe Kokori community on the right footing of glory.

“Cooperation is a desirable element in life. We must stand in unity as it was in the days of old. Therefore, let us support him and work together.”

He urged all sons and daughters of the Samagidi-Ibruvwe community to rise up and rally round him to bring the desired development to our community.
