Oborevwori’s Support: Ukwuani Councillors Empower 400 Constituents in Umukwata Ward

No fewer than 400 constituents in Ward 4, Umukwata, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, have benefited from an empowerment programme initiated by their representatives, Hon. Damian Ishie and Hon. Frankmayor Oguye.

The beneficiaries received the intervention on Friday, September 18, in a programme that generated excitement across the community and highlighted the impact of people-oriented representation at the grassroots.

The initiative was carried out under the supervision of the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Possible Ajede, PhD.

Speaking on the programme, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security and Omenosa of Umukwata, Chief Isaac Onyesom, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and economic capacity of Deltans.

Onyesom said the empowerment programme reflected a leadership committed to practical interventions that could improve livelihoods and strengthen economic activities at the grassroots.

According to him, “It takes a good leader who genuinely has his people at heart to support initiatives that empower the people and give them the means to improve their lives.

“This is the kind of intervention that makes government meaningful to the people. When people are supported to start or strengthen their businesses, the impact goes beyond the beneficiaries to their families and the wider community.”

He also praised Ishie and Oguye for complementing the efforts of the state government by responding directly to the needs of their constituents.

The community leader urged other elected representatives to prioritise programmes that create economic opportunities, boost household incomes and promote self-reliance among their constituents.

He advised the beneficiaries to make productive use of the support, stressing that the intervention should serve as a springboard for sustainable livelihoods rather than a temporary relief.

Onyesom said the enthusiasm generated by the programme demonstrated the value residents place on empowerment initiatives that have a direct impact on their daily lives.

He added that sustained investment in grassroots empowerment would stimulate local economic activities, strengthen communities and further advance the development objectives of the Oborevwori administration.
