**Targets ,Youths, Women Others for empowerment, employment
The Candidate of National Democratic Party (NDP) for Warri Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general polls, Amb. Dr. Chief Sheriff Mulade Monday September 28 unveiled a seven points Development Agenda as he visited members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel. Dr. Mulade notes that his seven point agenda will target women and youths in Warri Federal Constituency for empowerment and employment creation if voted into office as member representing the people of Warri Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in Abuja.
Chief Mulade unveiled his agenda when he featured on the flagship programme 2026,a programme organized by the NUJ Warri at its Secretariat at Eburu Street, Warri, Delta State.
According to the Warri NDP candidate Chief Mulade, his seven points Agenda includes Purpose driven representation, Unity driven representation, People oriented representation, Inclusive representation, Economic, Empowerment and Sustainable driven representation, Employment opportunities and Accessibility, reliability and dependability.
Chief Dr. Mulade, is also a passionate known environmental activist in Niger Delta, Nigeria and Worldwide adding that he will relate and work with the government in the area of infrastructure. According to him,”I will work with the State Government to ensure that the development that will reach us in this area does not elude us. I will also work to ensure that we have a friendly environment.”
He outlined what he described as a people-centred approach to legislative representation. He explained that empowering women would have a multiplier effect on families and communities.
He stressed that women should be given greater access to economic opportunities and support. “If you empower one woman, you have empowered a family; and when a family is empowered, the community is empowered. When the communities are empowered, the constituency is blessed,”.
He pointed out that his proposed women empowerment programme would form part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing poverty, expanding economic opportunities and improving the standard of living of families across Warri Federal Constituency.
Chief Mulade who is the Ibeserimowei (Kingdom lifter) of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom also stated that his focus would not be limited to women alone, as young people would also be given opportunities through employment, skills development and engagement with government agencies and private-sector organisations.
Speaking further Chief Mulade said the office of a federal representative should be used to connect constituents with opportunities available through ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government, as well as multinational companies operating within the constituency.
“As the representative, you can use the office to open a lot of doors, communicate, relate and engage critical stakeholders in the business environment and ministries,” he said.
He proposed the establishment of an employment opportunities desk in his constituency office, through which available jobs and other opportunities would be communicated and distributed across the various communities and ethnic groups in the constituency.
Mulade said such a structure would ensure that employment opportunities were not concentrated in one section of the constituency, but reached people across its diverse communities.
The NDP candidate, Dr. Mulade also linked youth empowerment to peace and security, arguing that meaningful employment and constructive engagement would reduce the vulnerability of young people to crime, violence and political thuggery.
“If these youths are engaged and empowered, we will not see youths being used for thuggery by those politicians or those in office,” he Added l.
He said his interest in political representation was also informed by his years of environmental advocacy and activism in the Niger Delta.
He pointed out that his decision to enter politics was based on the need to move beyond advocacy and participate directly in the legislative process where policies and laws affecting the people could be influenced.
“To correct some of these abnormalities in the environmental justice space, you need to be part of government. We have done that for decades and discovered that until we are part of the process, it will be difficult to correct some of these issues,” he said.
He assured that, if elected, he would use his position in the National Assembly to raise issues concerning environmental degradation, pollution and other challenges confronting oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta.
He said Warri Federal Constituency deserved strong legislative representation capable of drawing the attention of the Federal Government to the challenges facing its people.
“Since the discovery of oil and gas in the Niger Delta, our environment has not only been destroyed, our ecosystem has been contaminated. We need to be part of the National Assembly to raise some of these concerns so that the Federal Government can hear our voice,” he said.
On constituency development funds, Mulade said such resources should be deployed for the benefit of the people and not treated as personal entitlements. He said he would work with traditional rulers and other stakeholders to identify the needs of communities and determine how constituency interventions could best serve residents.
“Constituency funds are made for the people. For me, this one will be used for the people,” he said. He added that traditional rulers would have an important role to play in sustaining peace and development in the constituency.
“It is only when we have peace that development can be attracted to the area,” he said. Mulade also promised accessible and reliable representation, saying he would remain available to constituents and ensure that his campaign commitments were followed by action if elected.
“I am not a politician who will come to promise what I can’t offer. Those who have worked with me know that whatever I say, I try as much as possible to stand by my words,” he said.
He said his seven-point agenda, tagged “Mandate to Serve 2027 — The Light of Hope,” also covers economic opportunities, quality healthcare, improved education, peace and unity, infrastructure, sustainable development and employment creation. Mulade said his objective was to use the Warri Federal Constituency platform to demonstrate what purpose-driven and people-oriented representation could achieve.
“I don’t need to be the governor of Delta State to change Warri. I can use Warri Federal Constituency to tell Delta that a new Delta is possible,” he said.
He urged residents of the constituency to support a representation built around inclusion, employment opportunities, women and youth empowerment, environmental advocacy, peace and sustainable development, even as he promised to give equal opportunities to the non indigenes of Warri federal Constituency if voted to represent the federal Constituency in 2027.
