By Olaolu Joseph

As the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) gets to the finals stages, with three more games to go, chairman of the league board, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, has assured of a hitch free conclusion to the season.

Although Remo Stars have already clinched the league title, the NPFL boss said he and his colleagues are aware of the fight for continental tickets and survival from demotion, hence they will be on their toes till the last day of the season.

Honourable Elegbeleye , a former Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Sports of the House of Representatives, hinted that the board will be at alert to guard against any form of antics by teams battling to survive the drop and those eyeing continental ticket.

“At this stage, I will say clubs are now in desperate mood to escape relegation, some are in desperate mood to qualify for continental football.

We know a lot of antics would be deployed by clubs to probably derail matches to favour them, but my message to the clubs and to Nigerians, is that we are up to the task.

“t is not business as usual anymore, what ever they bring, we know how to block all loopholes now. It is certain we will run a very seamless and very smooth league till the last day (Matchday 38)”, said the politician cum sports administrator.

The former Director General, National Sports Commission (NSC), expressed appreciation to Nigerians for appreciating what the board is doing and for believing in them.

“I want to tell Nigerians that our best is yet to come, we are just growing and we will continue to improve on every opportunity until we give Nigeria the best league in Africa”.
