NAtional Population Commission sets to End Analog Civil Registration System March 1

‎The National Population Commission NPC has slated March 1, 2026 as deadline for analog processing of death and birth registration and acquisition of attestation forms from the agency.

‎National Commissioner representing Delta State in the National Population Commission Mrs Blessyn Brume Ataguba, stated this in Asaba, at a Press Brief on State Level Launch of Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statetistics (e-CRVS) System.

In a remark at the event, the National Commissioner Mrs Blessyn Brume Ataguba said the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statetistics System was developed with the collaboration of local and international partners to digitize all forms of civil registrations including death, birth, migration, divorce and marriage notifications.

‎Hon. Blessyn Ataguba stated, “The process marks a complete departure from the traditional paper-based recording of vital events to a state-of-the-art digital solution that conforms to international best practices. This Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statetistics System promises to revolutionize how vital events are recorded, tracked and analyzed in the country.”

‎Mrs. Ataguba stressed that from the 1st of March 2026 the commission will commence implementation of the digital registration of civil statistics across the country.

‎She observed, “the launch of the Digital Civil Registration and Vital Statetistics System is set to overhaul the entire process of registration of births and deaths, including laying a solid foundation for an efficient system for socio-economic planning.”

‎The State Director National Population Commission Jane Odigwe, spoke of the right of children to have a legal identity, noting the NPC has upgraded its operations in collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission to simplify the process of registration.

‎She said, “Parents, the days of double stress are over. Once you register your child’s birth with us, the record flows automatically to generate a National Identification Number (NIN). When you receive that birth certificate, your child’s NIN is already printed on it. With one single action, you are securing your child’s legal identity for life.”

‎Also, the State ICT Lead, Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statetistics System Mr. Erunube Jerry, noted registrants should visit any NPC offices or health care centers, and could do same through the Commission’s portal online.

‎According to FRCN Correspondent in Asaba, Oghenero Eghweree, NPC Controllers from the twenty five local government areas were presented initial gadgets each, for the implementation of the electronic civil registration and vital statistics system.
