NDDC Commission its State Office in Yenagoa

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has officially commissioned their own state office in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, named Melford Okilo House.

Governor Douye Diri, who spoke at the event, said he used the medium to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving priority to the Niger Delta in terms of development, especially for the support of the second phase of the Nembe-Brass Road. He noted that the road is linked to the Atlantic Ocean and will drive economic diversity to the state and Nigeria at large, also thanking the EFCC Boss, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, for finding time to honor the commissioning in Bayelsa State.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of the Commission, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, described Sen. Melford Okilo as one of those who made sure that the Niger Delta Development Commission was established to develop the Niger Delta because of its potential mineral resources in the area. For his contribution to the establishment of the Commission, they decided to name the building after him, Melford Okilo House.

Dignitaries present included the Bayelsa State Governor, H.E. Senator Douye Diri, with his dear wife, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri, the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Minister of Regional Development Engr. Abubakar Momoh, EFCC Chairman Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, Senate Committee Chairman on NDDC Sen. Asuquo Ekpenyong, NDDC Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie, and Senators representing Bayelsa Central, East, and West, Federal House of Representatives from Bayelsa State, Opolo Community Chief and his people.
