NPFL26 MD14 Preview: Kwara United Set for Showdown Against 3SC in Ilorin
Kwara United will return to the Rashidi Yekini Main bowl on Sunday as they host Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in the NPFL Matchday 14 fixture, following back-to-back away games against Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors.
Last season, the Harmony Boys defeated the Oluyole Warriors in Ilorin but lost in Ibadan, sustaining the long-standing rivalry between both sides.
With the history and intensity surrounding the fixture, players and officials from both camps are staying focused and refusing to be drawn into the usual banter on and off the pitch. The match carries extra significance for Kwara United, who are pushing to stay within reach of the title-contending pack this season.
Team morale remains high despite some injury concerns. AbdulRahman Olarewaju, Gidado Toheeb, and Yahaya Ibrahim are ruled out, while Akanni Akeem and Saheed Olaniyi have returned to the squad.
Speaking to the club media after Saturday’s final training session, Coach Ashifat Suleiman stated that the team has moved on from the defeat to El-Kanemi and is fully focused on securing maximum points at home.
He also called on supporters and stakeholders to rally behind the team as they pursue their season’s objectives.
