Traditional worshippers on Saturday converged at the sacred Ziba Opuoru Temple in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, for the annual Ibolomoboere New Year Thanksgiving ceremony led by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo AKA Tompolo.

The spiritual gathering was conducted by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), who joined traditional priests and faithfuls in offering prayers, sacrifices, and traditional rites in honour of the Ibolomoboere deity.

During the ceremony, prayers were offered for peace, unity, and development in Gbaramatu Kingdom, the Ijaw Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria at large. Worshippers also sought divine guidance, protection, and prosperity as the new year begins.

Participants from Bayelsa, Ondo, Edo, and different parts of Delta State attended the ceremony to renew their pledges and reaffirm their commitment to the traditional institution. The event featured cultural dances, chants, and ritual offerings, as the temple grounds came alive with spiritual activities.

The annual Ibolomoboere thanksgiving remains one of the most significant traditional events in Gbaramatu Kingdom, marking the spiritual opening of the new year and reinforcing cultural heritage among the Ijaw people.
