**Says his claims, pronouncements don’t reflect the collective will of NAPPS Delta

**His tenure has long expired, he’s not National Vice President (South South) NAPPS

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Delta State Chapter, says Ochuko Akpeme and his cohorts remain under suspension from the state chapter of NAPPS, having acted in a manner inconsistent with the Association’s rules and collective resolution.

This position was made known Thursday, February 19, by the state chapter of NAPPS under the leadership and Chairman NAPPS Delta State, Dcns. Mrs. Precious Young, after their well-attended elaborate 37th State General Meeting held in Sapele.

According to them, the meeting was also well attended by committed and forward-thinking proprietors across the state and that far-reaching decisions were taken in the overall interest and progress of the Association, noting that the narrative of a “poorly attended” meeting is a convenient fabrication aimed at diminishing the overwhelming show of unity and support witnessed at the gathering.

NAPPS Delta State Chapter noted that Ochuko Akpeme is not the National Vice President (South South) of NAPPS and that his tenure in that office has long elapsed; therefore, he doesn’t have such powers to parade himself as he’s doing, further positing that “leadership is service, not self-protection: the truth must prevail.”

Here’s NAPPS Delta State Chapter’s statement after its 37th State General Meeting held in Sapele:

“The attention of the leadership of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Delta State Chapter, has been drawn to the publication credited to one Ochuko Akpeme in Oasis Magazine, wherein he purportedly described the duly convened State General Meeting in Sapele as a “fanfare” and alleged that the State Executive Council remains suspended.

“Ordinarily, such claims would not merit a response. However, for the sake of clarity, institutional integrity, and to prevent the unsuspecting public from being misled, it has become necessary to set the record straight.

“First and foremost, Dcns. Mrs. Precious Young remains the duly elected and substantive State Chairman of NAPPS, Delta State Chapter. Her leadership is legitimate, constitutional, and firmly rooted in the mandate freely given by members of the Association. No individual acting outside his tenure or constitutional authority can invalidate that mandate through mere pronouncements.

“Secondly, the said Ochuko Akpeme is not the National Vice President (South South) of NAPPS. His tenure in that office has long elapsed. It is therefore untenable for him to continue to parade himself in that capacity or to purport to exercise powers that he no longer holds. Authority in any structured organization derives strictly from the constitution and subsists only within the lifespan of a valid tenure.

“Furthermore, the assertion that the Delta State Executive Council remains suspended is misleading and without constitutional foundation. On the contrary, Akpeme and his cohorts remain under suspension from NAPPS Delta State Chapter, having acted in a manner inconsistent with the Association’s rules and collective resolutions.

“The 37th State General Meeting held in Sapele was well attended by committed and forward-thinking proprietors across the state. Far-reaching decisions were taken in the overall interest and progress of the Association. The narrative of a “poorly attended” meeting is a convenient fabrication aimed at diminishing the overwhelming show of unity and support witnessed at the gathering.

“It must also be clearly stated that constitutional review is a collective, structured, and procedural process. It cannot be driven by individuals whose tenure has expired or who seek to alter foundational principles for personal advantage. This administration came into office under a single-term constitutional framework, and we shall exit on the same single-term constitutional basis. We will not distort the Association’s governing instrument to suit transient ambitions.

“More importantly, if Akpeme truly holds the office he claims as South South Vice President, a fundamental and legitimate question must be asked: why are his so-called South South Vice Presidential activities visible only in Delta State?

“The South South geopolitical zone comprises six states: Delta State, Edo State, Bayelsa State, Rivers State, Akwa Ibom State, and Cross River State.

“Can he publicly account for his official engagements, interventions, and measurable contributions in the remaining five states?

“Regional leadership demands regional visibility, inclusiveness, and accountability, not a selective concentration of activities in one state alone.

“The general public, stakeholders, and well-meaning members of NAPPS are therefore advised to disregard the activities, claims, and pronouncements of Ochuko Akpeme. His current actions are self-serving and do not reflect the collective will of NAPPS Delta State.

“NAPPS Delta remains united, focused, and committed to the advancement of private education in the state. Under the leadership of Dcns. Mrs. Precious Young, the Association will continue to uphold due process, constitutionalism, and the shared interests of all proprietors”.
