Emperor Unveiled As Chairman Bendel Insurance Football Club Amid Pump
**vows to lift club to International standard
Newly appointed Chairman of the Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, has promised to work assiduously with the Executive chairman, Edo State Sports Commission Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele and relevant stakeholders in transforming Bendel Insurance Football Club to international standard
The new boss of the Benin Arsenals made the promise at his official unveiling ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday afternoon, insisting that changing the fortunes of the club to the level of listing it in the Capital Market is achievable and will be pursued under his watch.
According to Tenebe, Football is a serious business that is as lucrative as oil business which if well managed, clubs involved will no longer need state governments’ sponsorship.
“Football is a serious business. I believe we can do a lot with football. Football is more lucrative than oil and we have the connection and business ideas to explore our business environment to the advantage of the club.
“We will take Bendel Insurance to the Capital Market. We know what to do. We know how to fix a lot of things. Bendel Insurance can buy players from outside the country. Football is money making.” He emphasized.
In his address the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele described Tenebe as a round peg in a round hole, adding that “under his leadership our club will reach new heights.
“We have no doubt that ultimately Bendel Insurance will even dominate Africa. With his wealth of experience the club will get to new heights.”
He praised the efforts of the former Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, who is now the Director General(DG) of the National Institute for Sports(NIS) for his untiring efforts while he was the Chairman of the Bendel Insurance Football Club.
Veteran Coach Alabi Aisien while going down memory lane recalled that Bendel Insurance was founded in 1969 by the Governor of the old Bendel State, General Samuel Ogbemudia. He recalled how the club in 1973 barely four years after it was founded lifted the prestigious Challenge Cup.
He described Tenebe as a man that has the vision and what it takes to manage the affairs to greater heights.
