Former Abia Warriors, NPFL Player, Ogbonna Arinze joins Al Afreeki of Libya
Former Abia Warriors, Bendel Insurance, Lobi Stars and Kwara United midfielder Ogbonna Arinze has completed a move to Libyan Top Division side, Al Afreeki SC.
The versatile and lanky midfielder who could play as a centre back, or as a holding midfielder has signed a one year contract with the option for a further year, and will wear jersey number 34 following his unveiling by his new club.
Arinze last played for Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Kwara United, where he helped them to a 16th place finish in the 2025/2026 season.
Speaking for the first time after he swapped the NPFL for Libya, Arinze’s words were that of gratitude and focus: “I’m so grateful to God…” He said
Adding that “I wanna make a huge impact on the league as a whole and my team”.
While his journey in the Nigerian top-flight may have come to an end, the player is keen to kickstart the next phase of his career in a foreign league with the objective of making a lasting impact.
