The Southern Women Empowerment Forum (SWEF), Delta State Chapter, strongly condemns the alleged sexual molestation in Ozoro headquarters of Isoko North LGA carried out under the guise of cultural practice.
In their statement Onbehalf of the forum by the Delta State Chapter Coordinator, Amb. Dcns. Mrs. Rose Obi, describe the act as barbaric, inhumane, and unacceptable, adding that no tradition or custom should ever violate the dignity, rights, and safety of women and girls.
SWEF urged Delta State Government and other security agencies to urgently investigate, arrest, and prosecute all those involved without delay.
Dr. Mrs. Obi also called traditional leaders and the public to reject harmful practises, support victims, and stand firmly against gender-based violence, stressing that Southern Wonen Empowerment Forum, SWEF remains committed to protecting and empowering women and shall continue to speak out against all forms of abuse against women and others in the society.
