Dr. Ekpemupolo calls for Calm, Seeks Peaceful Resolution of Warri Delineation controversy
A Prominent Ijaw leader and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has called for restraint and dialogue amid growing tensions over the controversial ward delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 9, the revered Niger Delta leader urged all parties involved in the dispute to embrace peace and allow lawful channels to address their grievances rather than resorting to actions that could further heighten tensions in the region.
Tompolo’s appeal comes against the backdrop of ongoing protests by women and youths from several Ijaw communities who, since June 8, 2026, have staged peaceful demonstrations around key oil and gas facilities in the Escravos and Warri River axis.
The protesters are demanding what they describe as fairness and justice in the delineation process.
While acknowledging the concerns expressed by the affected communities, Tompolo stressed the need for unity, patience, and constructive engagement, noting that peace remains essential for the stability and development of the Niger Delta.
He urged stakeholders to prioritize dialogue and mutual understanding, expressing confidence that the issues surrounding the delineation exercise can be resolved through lawful and peaceful means.
The Ijaw leader further cautioned against any action capable of disrupting economic activities or undermining the hard-earned peace in the region, emphasizing that lasting solutions can only emerge through cooperation, respect for due process, and commitment to the collective interest of all communities involved.
