Gbaramatu Youth Council applauds Tompolo Foundation for donation of over four thousand desks, chairs to Gbaramatu schools

Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, has applauded the Tompolo Foundation (TF) for its donation of customised desks and chairs to schools across communities in the riverine kingdom as part of its latest intervention to improving foundational education.

The youth body’s commendation is contained in an official statement signed by the GYC’s President, Mr. Egbejule Arerebo Kingsley, and made available by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Wuruyai Ebilade Maxwell, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

GYC disclosed that its partnership with the Tompolo Foundation has been very effective in reigniting the passion for learning by pupils and students, and changing the former narrative of neglect by employing teachers to bridge the learning gap across the riverine kingdom.

“We are grateful to the Tompolo Foundation founded by our leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, for partnering with the youth body to engage more teachers, and then this current initiative of donating more than four thousand chairs to various schools in the kingdom, an initiative that will increase quality learning.

“We had earlier informed our leader and sponsor of the lack of desks and chairs in most of the community schools, a situation that was impeding learning through discomfort experienced by pupils and students.

“As a listening father and a leader who values education, the Ebidouwei of Izon Nation mobilised resources to acquire customised desks and chairs, which, as we speak, are to be distributed to schools in the kingdom,” the youth body added.

Egbejule called on the state government to set up a special blueprint plan to look into foundational schools in riverine areas, stressing that riverine education need special attention and focus due to the terrain and peculiar challenges they face.

The GYC President emphasized that the importance of foundational education demands that the government and other stakeholders pay more attention to resolving the challenges affecting learning.

“We use this medium to call on the state government and other stakeholders to join hands with the youth body and the Tompolo Foundation to make our foundational schools more educationally inclined through the provision of adequate learning infrastructures.

“Due to the peculiar challenges bedeviling learning we urge the government to come up with a special blueprint for riverine education in order to resolve the peculiar challenges once and for all because we cannot be crying over and over the same issues regarding education,” they added.
