DECISIONS OF THE MEETING OF THE (NFF) DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE HELD ON 30 TH MARCH, 2026 ON THE PROTEST LODGED BY JIGAWA GOLDEN STARS FC AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE NIGERIA NATIONAL LEAGUE (NNL) ON THE USE OF INELIGIBLE PLAYER BY YOBE DESERT STARS FC
DECISIONS OF THE MEETING OF THE (NFF) DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE HELD ON 30 TH MARCH, 2026 ON THE PROTEST LODGED BY JIGAWA GOLDEN STARS FC AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE NIGERIA NATIONAL LEAGUE (NNL) ON THE USE OF INELIGIBLE PLAYER BY YOBE DESERT STARS FC
FINDINGS:
1. That the player, Shedrack John of Yobe Desert Stars FC with Jersey number 2 had received three (3) yellow cards in previous matches before the match between Yobe Desert Stars FC vs. Jigawa Golden Star FC.
2. That the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League (NNL) – Danlami Alanana – stated before the NFF Disciplinary Committee that they did not carry out a thorough investigation before their decision.
3. That the COO of the NNL averred that, it was after their decision that they found out that the player in question actually had three (3) yellow cards before the match between Yobe Desert Stars FC vs. Jigawa Golden Star FC; one (1) yellow card while playing for Ranchers Bees FC and two (2) yellow cards while playing for Yobe Desert Stars FC), and asked the NFF Disciplinary Committee to do the needful.
4. That Yobe Desert Stars FC fielded an ineligible player, Shedrach John in their match against Jigawa Golden Stars FC.
5. That the NNL Disciplinary Committee erred in their decision by not awarding 3 goals and 3 points in favor of Jigawa Golden Stars FC.
DECISIONS
Based on the above findings, the Committee decides as follows:
1. That the protest by Jigawa Golden Stars FC hereby succeeds.
2. That the decisions of the NNL Disciplinary Committee is hereby set aside.
3. That 3 points and 3 goals is hereby awarded to Jigawa Golden Stars FC.
4. That the above decisions are without prejudice to the right of appeal.
