Former Super Eagles defender Chikelue Iloenyosi has blamed the players for Nigeria’s painful failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite boasting one of the most talented squads in Africa.
Iloenyosi expressed disappointment that a team blessed with stars such as Victor Osimhen and several Europe-based talents could not secure a World Cup ticket, insisting that the players must take responsibility for the disappointing campaign.
Nigeria has quality players, but football is not won on paper. The players must also be held accountable for our absence from the World Cup,” he said.
The Super Eagles will now miss out on the biggest football tournament in the world, leaving fans wondering how a squad packed with talent failed to reach the global stage.
