The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, says politics isn’t for the opponent or anyone to kill brothers and sisters but rather for the development of the people.

Governor Diri stated this during the 14th edition of the Bayelsa State annual Thanksgiving Day held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Igbogene, Yenagoa.

He used the service to highlight his achievements, which include the road to Southern Ijaw with the longest bridge, Sagbama-Ekeremor road, Ogbia-Nembe road, and improvements in all sectors of the state economy.

Governor Diri, who also spoke in his native Ijaw language, stressed that his administration has given the state good governance and that as governor, he has made good decisions on behalf of the state for their best interest.

He appealed to the politicians in the state to shun actions that would make Bayelsa State be seen in a negative light on social media and conventional media platforms.
