The Delta state Commissioner for Police CP Wale Abass has called on all stakeholders in the state to take security seriously as the state is for all law abiding citizens to protect.

Clinging on a catch phrase that should guide us CP Abass stated that “if and when you see something; say something” security is everyone’s business.

The well breed Police officer that knows the nooks and crannies of the state have served in Delta at three different capacities before coming as CP making him his fourth time serving in the state, CP Abass made the disclosure at his office in the commands headquarters Asaba Thursday June 1, 2023, while playing host to the new Executives of the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel of The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Asaba, where he revealed that “my office is always open to the press, I have respect for the press as one of the major stakeholders in security matters.”

CP Abass has served in various capacities in the Nigeria Police force including as Unit Commander 16 Squadron (PMF), where he rose to become the Commander of the squadron among other top assignments.

The eloquent CP while calling on the press to field in areas with evident lags in the command and also police the police, called on parents to watch and caution their wards on the right things to do as they lead by example.

CP Wale Abass hinted that Policing is no longer business as usual taking cognizance of the evolution in crimes, stressing that “Crime has actually taken over the whole society, if you look at it, its difficult for a righteous person to survive in an unrighteous environment.”

“The people out number the police workforce and so the police can’t do it alone, we need people to come actively in and be free to bring things to my notice that need my attention, you see something you say something.

While commending the selfless services of the Police Public Relations Officer DSP, Bright Edafe and he’s ways of continuously solving issues beforehand, the CP stated that “it’s an aberration for anyone to stop you and start asking you to bring your phone, despite incessant lectures with them they will still be demanding.” adding that “People are now realizing their rights, not even the CP has any rights to just stop you and demand your phone unless its necessary.”

The CP also called on the Public to beware of some people in the guise of human rights that are going about taking advantage of people.

The Chairman of the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel (ICC) Comrade Kenneth Orusi, commended the CP for his giant strides in less than a month of his fourth return to Delta State but this time as CP and for his time considering his ever busy schedule also appealed to the CP to look very discreetly into the issue of cultism in the state at all levels.

Comrade Orusi hailed the prompt action deployed by CP Abass in fighting crime and criminality in Delta State, he assured him of his members sustained support and synergy to succeed in making Delta safest state in Nigeria to live in and do business.
