“Tekedor Kusimi fishing camp is in Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, not in Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom,” Capt. Denkeden clarifies

The Chairman of Kunukunuma Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West, Delta State, Capt. Friday Denkeden has clarified that Tekedor Kusimi fishing camp is in Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom and not in Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in Warri South-West, as falsely claimed by some people from Ogbe-Ijoh.

Capt. Denkeden gave the clarification in a press statement made available to newsmen in Warri, while reacting to a publication made by some people styled “Re: Notice To Disregard/Discountenance Kantu Community Of Gbaramatu Kingdom” (Vanguard Publication Dated Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Page 20), and “Re: Setting The Records Straight To Correct The Falsehood” in the publication of Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Page 20 of The Vanguard Newspaper by Kantu Community of Gbaramatu Kingdom.

In their reaction statement signed by the Chairman of Kunukunuma Federated Community, Capt. Monday Denkeden, and Secretary, Pastor (Dr.) Abraham Tebiano, respectively stated inter alia, “We hereby state emphatically that the self-acclaimed communities of Tekedor Kusimi and Apalagbene are non-existent anywhere, as far as we know. We do have, as a matter of fact, Tekedor Kusimi and Apalagbene fishing camps at Egwa 2 Oil Field and Odidi Field, which belong to and are both located in Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

“The parcels of land where the above-mentioned fishing camps are located belong to the Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community.

“We state categorically that Tekedor Kusimi fishing camp is not part of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. Tekedor Kusimi fishing camp is in Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom of Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

“Thus, the inhabitants of Tekedor Kusimi and Apalagbene fishing camps who are presently in occupation of portions of the above-mentioned area do not have any proprietary interest in Apalagbene fishing camp but are in occupation of portions of the same at the pleasure of the indigenes of Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community.

“We therefore hereby affirm that the indigenes of Kantu Community, being descendants of Kunukunuma, are bona fide owners who are entitled to continue to exercise exclusive rights of possession and ownership over all that piece/parcel of land encompassing Egwa 2 Oil Field, Odidi Field, Kusimi, and beyond in Kunukunuma Federated Community/Kantu Community of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State,” they noted.
