Three Abia Warriors players Earn CHAN Call-Up

Three Abia Warriors players have been called up to the Nigeria Super Eagles B-Team, also known as the CHAN Eagles, currently preparing for the 8th African Nations Championship. The trio include strikers Sunday Megwo and Anthony Ijoma, and star midfielder Ojonugwa Adejoh.

Super Eagles Head Coach, Eric Chelle, released a 35-man provisional list for the tournament, and the Abia Warriors players earned a deserved call-up after a successful season.

Megwo and Ijoma each scored 12 goals (all from open play) in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season, while Ojonugwa contributed 7 goals and 8 assists.

The players are expected to report to the Remo Stars Sports complex on Monday, July 7, 2025, for a camping exercise, where Coach Chelle will make his final selection for the CHAN tournament.

The African Nations Championship, staged across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from August 2 to 30, 2025, features Africa’s home-based national football players.

This call-up of the Umu Chineke boys is a testament to the trio’s hard work and talent, and Abia Warriors fans will be eager to see them shine on the continental stage.
