Vanguard Correspondent,  Omafuaire wins NUJ Warri Chapel Chairmanship election

Vanguard Newspaper Correspondent in Warri, Delta State, Chief Akpokona Omafuaire Esq today won the Chapel Chairmanship election of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel.

Chief Omafuaire polled seventeen(17) votes and defeated his closest rival in the election, Comrade Okpare Theophilus Onojeghen, garnered 13 votes in the contest.

Chief Omafuaire was immediately declared winner of the election by the Delta State Council Chairman of the NUJ,Comrade Churchill Oyowe who was flanked by the State’s Acting Secretary of the Union, Comrade Josephine Omodior administered the oath of office on the elected Chairman and some members of his cabinet who were returned unopposed.

Present at the election were the State Auditor,Celestine Afokoba amongst others.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Omafuaire thanked members of the Union for their peaceful conduct during the election exercise. He promised to take seriously the welfare of members as a top priority.

NUJ Delta State Council Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe appealed to members to put behind them all that transpired before and during the election.
