Warri Rep Member, Ereyitomi Assures Arewa Group of Continuous Support
The member Representing Warri Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Thomas Ereyitomi, JP, has assured the Arewa group in Warri of his continuous support, urging them to sustain their harmonious coexistence with the people of Warri, Delta State.
Rep Ereyitomi gave the assurance during the maiden edition of Arewa Day celebration in Warri, where he was honoured as the “Madugu” Leader of Arewa Warri and Environs, in Warri, Delta State.
While presenting a humanitarian award on behalf of the Arewa community and turbaning the member representing Warri Federal Constituency, Sarkin Hausawa of Warri and Environs, Adamu Muhammed Sanusi appreciated the Federal lawmaker for his continuous contribution to the growth and development of the Arewa community.
The Chairman of Hausa Quarter Warri, Danjuma Mohammed, explained that the Arewa Day celebration is a day to appreciate their host communities and individuals.
He added that the ideals of Arewa Day and the awards are hinged on the virtues of ethno-religious cum socio-cultural mutual tolerance, as the foundation for national peace, unity, and prosperity.
The Vice Chairman of Hausa Quarter, Hamisu Safiyanu, said the Arewa Day celebration is also referred to as the Arewa Festival, a day to celebrate the culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship of Northern Nigeria across 19 states.
He stressed that the day will now be celebrated in Warri annually like in other parts of the country and thanked the member representing Warri Federal Constituency for making the event memorable.
Others who spoke included the DG of Arewa Community Development Support, Mohammed Mecadulawa, and a former Civil Commissioner in Delta State, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, who congratulated Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, the Madugu of Arewa Warri and Environs, noting that he deserved the title following his support for the Arewa community.
The Arewa Day celebration featured Wasan Koroso performance, launching, cutting of cake, among others.
Dignitaries present at the maiden Arewa Day celebration included a representative of the Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse III, Chief Wilson Olley, former member representing Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie federal constituency, Hon. Efe Afe, and Chief Vincent Okudolor.
