Yobe Desert Stars Technical Adviser and Nigeria U-15 national team coach Patrick Bassey has lauded the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for organising the ongoing CAF B Licence Refresher Course, describing it as a timely initiative that will enhance coaching standards and drive football development across the country.
Bassey was among the participants in the first batch of the six-day programme, which concluded on Monday in Abuja. The second batch is scheduled to commence on Tuesday as the federation continues its effort to equip coaches with modern knowledge and prepare them for higher coaching qualifications.
Currently serving as the head coach of Nigeria’s U-15 national team, popularly known as the Future Eagles, while also working as Technical Adviser of Nigeria National League side Yobe Desert Stars, Bassey said the refresher course has reinforced the importance of continuous learning in the ever-evolving game.
«“This refresher course is a timely and commendable initiative by the NFF. Football is constantly evolving, and coaches must evolve with it. The sessions have challenged us to think differently, embrace modern methodologies and reaffirm our commitment to continuous learning,” Bassey said.»
«“I applaud the NFF for investing in the education and development of coaches. When coaches improve, players improve, teams become stronger, and the entire football ecosystem benefits. Programmes like this are vital for the future of Nigerian football.”»
The CAF B Licence Refresher Course is part of the NFF’s broader strategy to upgrade coaching capacity in the country and identify qualified candidates for the forthcoming CAF A Licence programme.
With the first batch successfully completed and a second group of coaches set to begin training, Bassey believes the initiative reflects the federation’s commitment to building a solid technical foundation that will positively impact Nigerian football for years to come.
