    *Theme: The Principle Of Rules Of Engagement And Professional Dynamism In Internal Security Operations

     

    Professionalism is all encompassing, enduring, discipline, loyal, proficient, handling, cleaning, stripping, when, where and how to apply the weapon took the centre stage of discussion and paper presentation at the summit being organized by the Armed Squad Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Delta State Command with the theme tagged : *The Principles of Rules of Engagement and Proffessional Dynamism in Internal Security Operations.

    Declaring the summit open, the State Commandant of the NSCDC who was represented by the Commands 2ic DCC Ezeh Benedict said, that all participants in the summit should be very attentive to all lectures and papers to be delivered and ask relevant questions as we make progress. He stated that any one who do not understand the rules of engagement, when, were and how to apply your weapon will cause collateral damage if not disaster in the society.

    In a related development, the 63 Brigade Commander represented by the Brigade Garrison Commander Lt Col Raphael .I. Adom posited In his lecture titled: The Principle and Rule of Engagement and Professional Dynamism for Arms Bearers. Lt Col IR Adom said that we must know that the weapon are also for self protection and preservation. When carrying the weapon, observe safety precautions, be professional, don’t do things or take things that will put you under any influence, Lt Col Raphael said.

    The second lecture and paper presentation was presented by the State Commissioner Of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration DCP Oke Sunday, while delivering his lecture titled: The Role of Armed Security Agencies in Internal Security Operations, said that the Police is the lead Agency in Internal Security Structure. He said that in the use of minimum force i.e the use of tear gas, pepper spray, barton, force must not be used as impunity measures.

    DCC MI Danlame who is the NSCDC Component Commander Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe also delivered his lecture on: Internal Security Operations, the role of NSCDC in Critical Assets Protection and Anti Vandalism.

    The high point of the summit was the question and answer section, which availed the participants to ask pressing and relevant questions with regard to weapon handling and general operations.

    The various Heads of Department, and Some Heads of Unit, drawn from the Intelligent and Investigations, Legal, Anti Vandal, Counter Terrorism Unit, Agro Rangers, Operations, Administration and Personnel, Armed Squad Unit and the head of Armoury ASC Agah C. Wisdom also took time to do justice to their various topics.

    Asc Agah Wisdom emphasised the need for Arm Bearers to always do the needful when signing riffles, taking over duty or handing over duty. He stated that the significance and importance of cleaning and servicing the weapon regularly cannot be overemphasized. That the weapon will perform maximally, effectively and efficiently if properly cleaned in and out always.
