Strange disease hits Gov. Okowa LGA School, Health Commissioner calls for calm

Five cases of a strange disease which manifests as fits/convulsion in conscious persons has been reported from a school in Boji Bojji Owa, in Ika North East Local Government Area of the State, the LGA where Governor Ife.anti Okowa hails from.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Delta State Ministry of Health, Asaba, Friday July 15, 2022.

According to the statement, one student is reported dead and the four surviving cases are being managed in government hospitals within the state. The affected school has been temporarily shut down as investigations continues.

The statement added that the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has been notified and samples from the patients sent to the National Reference Laboratory, Abuja for detailed analysis .

“Members of the public should not panic as government is already on top of the matter. The Ministry of Health further advised that any case of this nature should be reported immediately to the nearest government owned hospital” the statement stressed.
