Dennis Osadebe University VC, Prof. Aghalino Bags UNILORIN Distinguished Alumnus Award
The Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba, Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, has been honoured with the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in recognition of his contributions to scholarship, university administration and the promotion of the institution’s ideals and image.
The award was presented to Aghalino by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab O. Egbewole, SAN, during a ceremony at the university auditorium in Ilorin on Monday.
Egbewole said the award was in recognition of Aghalino’s steadfast commitment to advancing the ideals and reputation of his alma mater, particularly through his academic engagements, intellectual contributions and public representation of the university.
Presenting the award, the UNILORIN Vice-Chancellor said the university was proud of Aghalino’s achievements and the manner in which he had continued to project the institution positively since graduating from the university.
“I am pleased to confer on you the University of Ilorin Distinguished Alumnus honour in recognition of your steadfast commitment to promoting the ideals and image of the University,” Egbewole said.
He further commended Aghalino, describing him as a distinguished scholar and university administrator whose career and accomplishments had brought honour to the institution.
According to him, “Through your academic engagements and public representation, you have consistently portrayed the University in a most favourable light, for which we are deeply appreciative.”
Egbewole welcomed Aghalino back to the university campus, describing the honour as well deserved and conveying the congratulations and best wishes of the entire university community.
The recognition adds to a growing list of honours associated with Aghalino’s career, which has spanned teaching, research, scholarship, university administration and public service.
As Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Aghalino has been involved in efforts to strengthen the institution’s academic and administrative structures while enhancing its visibility and reputation within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
His emergence as a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Ilorin also reflects the institution’s recognition of the contributions of its graduates to scholarship, leadership, institutional development and society at large.
